The Casablanca Inn
While beautifully appointed today, the Casablanca Inn remains one of St. Augustine’s most haunted locations. It started as a refuge for traveling salespeople and a home for families. Though the woman who owned it struggled financially, she found ways to keep it open. In the days of prohibition, she felt enticed to allow illegal rum runners to smuggle alcohol into the city. She let them hide out in her hotel and sell the alcohol to her guests.
